|Chapter||Ch.10 - Riyenas (10)|
Lupenin Laiden (루페닌 라이덴, Rupenin Raiden) is a First-Class Dragon Knight and adjutant captain of the Killavin Platoon. He is also the close aide of Prince Reihart. Lupenin is the only son and heir to the Laiden family, one of Kingdom of Earthside's famed Three Retainer Families.
He is known for having good looks with blonde hair and brown eyes. He keeps his hair in a small braid.
Like other Dragon Knights, he wears the standard uniform consisting of white pants and black knee-high boots and a grey shirt that has a clerical collar (although the kingdom is not religious). As a First-class Dragon Knight, he has a sleeveless black tabard cape cut to the waist made of Mirage Beast leather with a gold clasp by the front and a hood that is white on the inside with white trimmings; he dons a black Mirage Beast leather hat styled like a Balmoral bonnet with a voluminous flat crown tilted to the right with two ridges each on one side, the brim white in color.
Coming from a noble family, Lupenin is a well-mannered soldier; he gets easily annoyed whenever he is reminded of his past rude actions. Despite being good-looking, he does not flaunt his appearance; rather he is a serious (yet easily surprised) individual. He cares about what his father, General Brac Laiden, thinks of him, having an unhappy expression after getting kicked out of his home.
Being Reihart's invaluable right-hand man, he is loyal to the prince. When need to, Lupenin concerns over the prince's health and actions; he was shocked and warns Reihart of danger when the prince decides to enter a house that was ablazed with fire. When Reihart faints from overusing the Lance of Zainarak in Duduk, Lupenin reprimands Dark from using his Dragon Artifact for transfer and to stay away because his Artifact element (darkness) can further jeopardize the prince's Mind Corruption.
As a nobleman and heir to his family, Lupenin had originally planned on having a respectful career as an officer in the kingdom's army. However, on his graduation day, he had beaten up his commander-in-charge for unknown reasons thus transferred to the Killavin Platoon (킬라빈 소대, Killabin Sodae), notoriously known to be a nest for trouble-making Dragon Knights.
Lupenin is the adjutant captain of the Killavin when the series starts and is made Prince Reihart's invaluable aide.
Season 1 Episode 1: RiyenasEdit
When an incident involving a Dragon Knight is found in Middle Square, Lupenin directly reports it to Prince Reihart, noting that the Kilavin are now in charge of the situation as it is out of Middle's lord's authority to look into it. Once at Middle Square, Lupenin gives further details to the prince regarding the unusual circumstances of the Blackthorn corpse, also adding that the Dragon Artifact is missing. After Reihart uses his own named Artifact to search for it, Lupenin follows him on horse with the rest of the Dragon Knights, heading towards Forté residence.
Once there, they find the house all aflame. When Reihart enters the house under protection with his Lance of Zainarak Artifact, Lupenin, shocked of the prince's reckless decision, warns Prince Reihart of the dangers that could befall him. When the fires die due to Reihart's powerful attack on an unknown (Reana and Kairak), Lupenin hurriedly goes to his side to check on his health since using high-level techniques can cause mental stress on the user. Already having gathered facts from neighbors, Lupenin informs that the owners of the house were proprietors of Forté Workshop who recently accepted a tenant. Lupenin also suspects that the unknown light was related with the Middle Square case. Just when Lupenin arranges to have a search for the three residents, Prince Reihart interrupts and orders him to label the Fortés as dead and to concoct a conclusion for the Middle Square case. After Reihart has Dark to follow the light, Lupenin voices out his skeptical opinion on the Akoom as he does not trust him. Eren Rochard suddenly appears with a surprise visit, greeting Lupenin and giving his grandmother's regards to the captain.
He is then seen leaving Middle alongside the prince with the rest of the Kilavin to Dorton the next day.

Season 1 Episode 3: Labryinth of TerreEdit
When Warrant Officer Millanka enters Lupenin's office, she finds him with one of Lord Dorton's adopted daughters; she tries to seduce Lupenin for information as she couldn't get any from Reihart. When the woman leaves, Milanka badgers how a handsome, noble man like Lupenin ended up in the Kilavin Platoon, a unit infamous for its 'misbehaving' Dragon Knights—by attacking his commanding officer during graduation for reasons unknown. Irritated by this, he asks what she came for. Milanka quickly tells him that Reihart wants his daily report. Lupenin does so, personally accounting his and the soldiers' routines to the prince in Ras's lab. The routines consist of drinking and entertainment in order to cover their work from Dorton spies.
Reihart then tells Lupenin that Stravin has begun to take action and to be more cautious than ever. Lupenin inquires if the information was from Dark, wanting to know if the prince has faith in the Kilavin or not. Reihart replies he does trust the Kilavin, thus cannot use them for such missions. Out of curiosity, he asks Reihart why he is resting in the lab, of which he answers that the smell emanating from it disturbs the Dorton women. Just when Lupenin leaves, Professor Ras goes up to him and requests to have a sample of his blood for his experiments. Although Lupenin abruptly leaves upon seeing the syringe, Ras follows after him to retrieve his blood.
A couple weeks later, Lupenin, along with the Kilavin Platoon, joins Reihart to the Wailing Canyons for Mirage Beast hunting, but in truth are being transported by Dark's Dragon Artifact to Duduk, the Mirage Beast Hunters' communications grounds. Once there, they attack and raid the Imugi village until every Hunter is captured. As Lupenin gives a rundown to Reihart of the results from the seizure, he gives his and the Dragon Knights' opinion of surprise on how the Hunters are in truth Imugi disguised as humans.

The leader, Seza, tells the member to put the weapon away, who turns out to be Reihart in disguise.
